Oy gevalt! The Second Avenue Deli no longer on Second Avenue? One of a dying breed of delis formerly found throughout the East Village and Lower East Side, Abe and Jack Lebewohl's temple of gefilte fish and chopped liver was a living legend in the former Yiddish Theatre zone of lower Second Avenue. For a time the infamous pornographer Al Goldstein was waiting tables here, a place where the waitresses would give you plenty of oy vey with your food. Now the place has been transformed into a Chase, leaving not even a shadow of its former self.

Fortunately, the deli's been relocated to Murray Hill, where you can get your fill of matzo ball soup, schmaltz, herring, pastrami and zillions of other beloved dishes.
