SAS Performing Arts Concert Opera presents a double bill featuring Leonard Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and a concert in honor of the centenary of Giacomo Puccini's death. Experience Bernstein’s "Americanness" through his 1952 opera Trouble in Tahiti. The story revolves around Sam and Dinah, who seem to have the perfect life in their little white house, but their growing detachment exposes a mutual feeling that they have lost their way. Mezzo Soprano Annie Chester will make her debut in the role of Dinah, Baritone Muir Ingliss returns to sing the role of Sam and as the Jazz Trio Soprano Monica Camafreita, Tenor Eric Sebek, and in his debut Baritone Jonathan Green. Nick Stamatakis is the Collaborative Pianist. Maestro Stephen Scovasso will conduct and Jenna Stewart Co-directs. In the second half of the program, we will celebrate the centennial of Puccini’s death by performing excerpts from all of his famous operas including Manon Lescaut, La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly Il Trittico and Turandot.
