Collective Unconscious is a confederation of artists working in the visual and performing arts. The collective was founded on the Lower East Side in early 1995 and moved to their present location in Tribeca in 20004.
The organization functions in a two-fold manner:
A) To administrate a theater, rehearsal, and gallery space, referred to as the Collective Unconscious Facility, that is open to the artistic community at large for low rental rates, and
B) To support the original work of its fifteen member/administrators, through the providing of personnel, equipment, and promotion.
Since its founding in 1995, Collective Unconscious has produced dozens of performances at its own facility and at other locations. While first and foremost an experimental theater, Collective:Unconscious supports a wide variety of artistic endeavors. Visit their website for complete details.
